So, the fiancé and I are currently in the process of finding and purchasing a house {something I do not recommend while planning a wedding, btw} and all I want to do is browse interiors for the future Batts abode. We’ve seen more homes than I care to name.. and although we haven’t found the one yet, I know it will be reconstructed to mirror the fabby, palm beach chic meets hollywood regency style of Dorothy Draper: vibrant colors, bold prints, oversized moldings, lacquered furniture… seriously, just google her. Ms. Draper does not disappoint.

It’s hard not to smile when feasting my eyes upon this sightly hue. It brings to mind warmer weather and pineapple cocktails.. which is precisely what I’m waiting for. Is it just me or has this been the l o n g e s t winter ever? Thank goodness fashion week left us with visions of printemps dancing in our heads..
Until then..

Hi! Lately, I’ve gotten a lot of emails and even a few comments asking about 1) my foundation routine and 2) my health and fitness regimen. I can’t guarantee… in fact, I KNOW… that what I do will not work for everyone, but I wanted to do this post for those who took the time to ask me to. {ps. I really love getting comments and emails from readers, so never hesitate to do so!}
As far as my foundation goes, I stipple. According to Merriam-Webster.com, stippling means, “to apply (as paint) by repeated small touches”. That’s the best definition I could find, so I hope it makes sense. I take my brush of choice for that particular day, put a little foundation on the back of my hand, scoop and stipple. I started doing this a few years ago after a makeup lesson, and I SWEAR your makeup goes on even smoother and better than using your fingers or sliding/brushing it onto your face. I’m not saying this is THE only way to apply foundation and achieve a nice, even canvas, but this is the way I do it and ya asked me.
For my “health and fitness” regimen, I don’t have one. I used to. And I used to follow it religiously, but I ended up plateauing and yo-yoing. No thanks. My aunt always told me, “If God made it, you can eat it.” And I try to live my life by this. If I told you I followed this every single day, I’d be lying. I looooove champagne, chips, pizza, macaroons, cupcakes and so on just as much as the next person, but I really do try to keep my portions in check. If I splurge on something, I make sure the rest of what I eat that day is nutritious. And I try to eat every few hours to keep my metabolism going. If this seems hard for you, keep an apple, a pack of almonds or something of the like in your purse at all times. If you get hungry, now you have something nutritious at your fingertips, and you’ll be less likely to run to the nearby vending machine. Fitness is a HUGE part of being physically fit and overall healthy. I wish I could tell you I work out 7 days a week for 2 hours, but I don’t. I wish I had the time to because I honestly LOVE working out. I used to hate it, but as long as you find something active that you love doing, it won’t feel like such a drag. If you hate running, take up a sport {tennis, racket ball, swimming, etc.} or find a cardio machine in front of a TV – it makes the time go by way faster. My all-time-favorite cardio machine is the recumbent bike. It tones your legs and booty like WHOA, and if you read a magazine or clench the handles down by your side, you’re also giving yourself one hell of an ab workout. You definitely need to do some strength training, though, so your body is proportionate. Lift a few light weights, do squats, walk/run up and down stairs, do sit ups, do push ups… the list goes on.
I hope this was informative for those who were asking. If I missed something, please feel free to shoot me an email or comment on this post! Now I’m off to watch one of my absolute faaaavorite things, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show!! Holla! XX
