First things first – the slippers. Not only are they comfortable, they can take an average outfit and pull it together for a chic day-look. Obviously black and neutrals are classic because they go with everything, but throw a pattern, bright color, a few studs or Swarovski crystals on those babies and you’ve got yourself a bold statement piece.
Thanks to mommy dearest and my aunts, my love of fur began at a very early age. That being said, in my opinion, leather and fur are absolutely fabulous – ESPECIALLY when paired together. I think a lot of people are afraid to rock leather since it seems a bit on the daring side, but that’s what I love about it! It’s your choice if you want to look like a biker chick… if that’s not what you’re going for, stay away from fringe and studs. Instead, try a plain leather legging, a blouse and a bootie or simple high-heel. The whole outfit will automatically feel more feminine if paired with things like flowy fabrics, a blazer or both {think Kim K style}. Use your imagination – the options are endless.
Moving right along… I was so excited to see so many red hues on the Pre-Fall 2012 runways. Ok, let’s be real – red never really goes out of style {kind of like leopard}, but it was shown in SO many amazing textures and shades. One of my favorites was a scarlet leather + fur jacket – holy amazingness. And I must admit, I’m completely digging the wedged tennies I keep seeing.
Finally, plaid and checkered prints were HUGE on the runway in so many different ways – trousers, scarves, ponchos, jackets, blazers, shoes… you name it, it was probably there. Depending on the piece you choose to wear, it may or may not come across as a prepster style. It’s up to you – plaid = more on the preppy side, checkered = more “lumberjack”. Don’t take the term “lumberjack” the wrong way – you obviously won’t look like a bearded muscle man – the designers took this pattern and gave it a sophisticated, feminine look… and I love it.
Okay, I definitely have more than 5 favorite trends for this coming Fall season, but 5 just seemed like a good number :) I can officially say, I’m ready for the cool weather… and football season.
