Healthy Snacking

I’m obsessed with health & nutrition.

I slip up from time to time, of course.. who doesn’t?  But for the most part, I treat my body with the respect it deserves.  It started my freshman year of high school when I stopped drinking soft drinks for good and dropped 10 lbs off the bat without changing anything else {think about THAT before you pick up another sugary soda}.  Over the years my weight has fluctuated tremendously, but my last few years of college I really developed a love of learning about healthy eating and living, and I’ve discovered TRUE happiness.  I used to diet and eat “diet” foods only to learn that those foods AREN’T GOOD FOR YOU.  Take Lean Cuisine for example – “no” preservatives {which I’m still skeptical about} and “portion” control, but they are loaded with sodium.  Are you really getting all the nutrients you should be getting in a meal?  Not too likely – too much Na is never a good thing.

Thanks to my aunt Ann I have a motto I {try} to live by:  IF GOD MADE IT, YOU CAN EAT IT.  Eating a raw diet with lean proteins free of preservatives and lots lots lots of water is the best thing you can do for your body, skin, hair, nails.. you name it.  But what most of us have the hardest time doing is SNACKING healthy.  I read somewhere that most of our caloric intake comes from snack foods.. if you’re snacking right – good for you.. if not – you’re about to get lucky.
